Established in 1961 by Dr. Robert G. “Doc” Flickinger in North Dakota, Midwest Veterinary Supply was born out of a vision to streamline product ordering for veterinarians and foster strong customer relationships. The company relocated to Bloomington, Minnesota in 1965 to better serve its growing clientele.
Over the years, Midwest Veterinary Supply continued to evolve and expand its reach by opening branches in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin in 1974. With an eye towards meeting customer demand and enhancing service, the company relocated its corporate office to Burnsville, Minnesota, and established a third warehouse in Des Moines, Iowa in 1980, and extended to Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1992.
Upon Doc Flickinger’s retirement in 1994, his son Guy Flickinger assumed the role of President, spearheading the company’s continued growth. Under his visionary leadership, Midwest Veterinary Supply further expanded its presence by opening warehouses in Norristown, Pennsylvania in 2004, Dallas, Texas in 2010, Las Vegas, Nevada in 2016, Birmingham, Alabama in 2018, and Ocala, Florida in 2021. Guy’s dedication to customer satisfaction and industry expertise ensured that Midwest could adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the animal health industry while maintaining a strong customer-centric culture.
Since 2022, Jeff Burkhamer has served as President and now CEO, overseeing Midwest Veterinary Supply’s continued expansion. Under his leadership, the company successfully acquired Victor Medical and launched a state-of-the-art distribution center in Visalia, CA. Jeff’s guidance has upheld the company’s legacy of customer-focused service and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the veterinary industry.
