Canine separation anxiety is one of the most common behavioral disorders encountered in veterinary practice. Dogs with separation-related distress may be presented with a history of vocalization, destructive behaviors, inappropriate elimination, self-injury, and/or other signs that can strain the human–animal bond and lead to relinquishment if left untreated. This webinar will review the current understanding of separation anxiety, including underlying emotional and behavioral mechanisms, differential diagnoses, and evidence-based treatment strategies. Attendees will explore practical approaches to diagnosis, client communication, behavior modification planning, and the appropriate use of pharmacologic support to improve outcomes for patients and their families.
